Is recycled drinking water the cleanest?

New research from engineers at Stanford University suggests that recycled wastewater can be less toxic and more dependable for potable use than traditional sources of drinking water including rivers and groundwater.
William Mitch, Stanford professor and senior author of the study published in Nature Sustainability, said they were surprised that in some cases the quality of the reuse water, particularly the reverse-osmosis-treated waters, was comparable to groundwater, which is traditionally considered the highest quality water.
