The Canary Islands Government held a conference on water reuse

The Canary Islands Government , specifically the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning held a conference in Tenerife on January 30th 2020 dedicated to the new EU regulations on water reuse. These regulations aim to improve reused water quality, mainly in agricultural reuse.
Various experts and representatives from different institutions in the Canary Islands and Spain addressed the regulations and the possibilities for irrigation. The legislation is mandatory for all EU countries that wish to utilize water reuse. Issues such as obligations, permits, deadlines, uses, crop categories, and methods of the regulation were addressed throughout the day. It was agreed that studies are necessary for the initial implementation process across the islands.
