The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has undertaken the task of recharging the final stretch of the Llobregat River. In a press release released by ACA, it said that, in coordination with Department of Public Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, they are conducting tests aimed at increasing the flow of the final stretch of the River with regenerated water produced in El Prat de Llobregat. This recharging project will help reduce surface water reservoirs from regulatory reservoirs of the river.

The recharging tests began with a contribution of 200 L/s and increased to 400 L/s in January which means that one part of regenerated water for every four parts of water circulates through the river at the recharge point. The amount of regenerated water will gradually be increased based on analytical monitoring, capping the flow at 800 L/s.
